I would like to wish everyone a fantastic 2016.

It is a great privilege for me to represent the members of FTSSA, and I will certainly do all that I can to look after the interests of our society.  I will be constituting the committee in the next couple of weeks and hopefully we can get the year off to a good start by tackling some of our collective challenges.

I want to thank Petri for his tenure as President; I have some big shoes to fill and will be calling on all the ‘old heads’ for advice.

The flight test community in South Africa is small and it is in the interest of our vocation that we collaborate our efforts. One of the best ways to achieve this is to share the great many lessons we learn while conducting and managing flight test operations. I want to encourage all members to continuously identify lessons that improve flight test safety, efficiency and techniques and share it with the society; no matter how small it may seem. We have a wealth of knowledge in this country that can be used to advance our aerospace industry.

Networking is a major goal of this society and it is important that we get together, formally and informally, to grow ideas and strengthen relationships.

I strongly support the establishment of a South African chapter of the Society of Flight Test Engineers (SFTE). Members will derive significant benefit from an affiliation with such a well respected society.

I look forward to a great year of flight testing!

Yours sincerely,

Lance
